Meet Our Chamber Team

 

Kim Biederman

Executive Director

Kim Biederman joins the Niles Chamber of Commerce as Executive Director. With over 15 years of nonprofit management experience,

Kim formally served as Executive Director for the Publicity Club of Chicago (PCC), one of the nation’s largest independent public relations membership associations.  Prior to joining PCC, Kim was the Executive Director for the Chicago Area Public Affairs Group (CAPAG) and the administrator for Chicago Women in Government Relations (CWGR). Kim provided key association support services to the organizations including membership and recruitment, corporate sponsorship, board/committee management, budget and meeting/event planning.

From 1995 to 2006, Kim was the Operation Manager for American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) where she managed a 45,000 square foot multi-tenant office facility and budget of $2 million.  She served prior to that as the chief event planner of their annual conferences ranging in size from 1000 to 6000 attendees.

Kim started her career working for Congressman Sidney Yates and the U.S. Department Health and Human Services in Washington D.C.

Kim served the Village of Niles as a Trustee where she started the Niles Teen Center and chaired the Milwaukee Avenue Redevelopment Committee. She was on the Planning and Zoning Board prior to becoming Trustee.

Kim holds a Masters of Public Administration from University of Illinois – Chicago, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Sociology from Illinois State University.

Alan Swanke Jr.

Associate Director

Alan Swanke Jr. joins the Niles Chamber of Commerce as Associate Director.  With over 10 years of marketing and live events experience, Alan will be a welcome addition to the team!

Most recently Alan served as the Marketing and Sales Manager for Loyola University Chicago’s Conference Services Department.  In this role, Alan developed and executed comprehensive marketing plans to maximize awareness of the school’s event spaces with external clients.

From 2013 to 2019, Alan worked as a business consultant in the live entertainment field.  During this time Alan collaborated with numerous producers, general managers, and venue operators to develop audiences for a wide variety of plays, musicals, and cabaret shows.

Alan started his career with MillerCoors.  As an Associate Brand Manager with this organization, he oversaw numerous national and local promotional events and utilized advanced analytical techniques to assess their ROI.

Alan received a Master of Science in Applied Economics from Marquette University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from St. Norbert College.  However, what he is most proud of is his high school diploma from Notre Dame College Prep right here in Niles!  Go Dons!!
